STATE ASSEMBLY COMMITTEES

BOARD STANDING COMMITTEES:

 

Budget & Finance Committee:

Members of this Committee monitor and compliance with the State Assembly annual budget and recommend how the State Assembly funds are to be invested within the investments guidelines.  Treasurer shall serve as the Chair of the committee.

Policy & Procedures Committee:

Member of this committee are appointed annually by the President.  The committee shall consist of three (3) members of the Board of Directors and the Chairperson of the Bylaws, Resolutions & Parliamentary Procedures Committee.  Secretary shall serve as the Chair of the committee.

SPECIAL COMMITTEES:

A special committee is formed by the State Assembly President for the sole purpose of providing a service to the State Assembly on a temporary basis.  All appointments shall be made by the President with the approval of the Board of Directors.  These special committees shall consist as long as necessary to fulfill their services to the State Assembly and shall be dissolved by the consensus of the Board of Directors.

STANDING COMMITTEES:

Standing Committees shall be appointed by the President with the approval of the State Assembly Board of Directors.  Can comprise of the Board of Directors or the general assembly and shall have active membership status in AST.

Committees members may serve for a term of two (2) years with a maximum of three (3) terms on the same committee.  The President also shall appoint for the Chair of the committee, who will serve in that position for a maximum of two (2) years).

 

Bylaws, Resolutions & Parliamentary Procedures Committee:

Member of this committee serve on the Teller Committee during election and serve as business sessions monitors.  They should be familiar with the State Assembly's Bylaws and AST Policies.

Education & Professional Standards Committee: The goal of this committee is to enhance the profession for better patient care through quality education and standards of practice.

​

Government & Public Affairs Committee:

The goal of this committee is to develop and oversee the implementation of a strategic plan of the legislative action on behalf of the surgical technologists.

The committee members are selected by evaluation on their skills, expertise, and talent within the legislative arena.
